SoCal Uncensored recently reached out to the Department of the Navy to find out whether Sergeant Slaughter ever actually served in the United States Marines. As you may recall, it came to light last week that his claims - in out of character interviews - that he served in the military were false and neither he nor WWE has commented on the matter since.

According to the letter below from the Navy, "MMRP was not able to identify Mr. Remus as a member or former member of the U.S. Marine Corps or Marine Corps Reserve based upon the information provided in your request."

While some fans have argued that all Slaughter is just living his gimmick like The Undertaker did for many years, we've never seen the Phenom claim to be an actual Deadman in real-life interviews whereas the WWE Hall of Famer has said that he served two tours of Vietnam while in the Marine Corps.

In 2009, Slaughter even accepted the Commander-In-Chief’s Gold Medal of Merit from the Veterans of Foreign Wars so it's fair to say that the backlash he's now facing is completely understandable.
