WWE is currently in the midst of holding its latest King of the Ring and with that comes the Queen's Crown tournament. While it's great to see the company's female Superstars receive the same treatment as the men, that certainly wasn't the case during the opening round matches on Friday's SmackDown.
This is very much a mid-card tournament, but Sami Zayn vs. Rey Mysterio and Finn Balor vs. Cesaro both received a decent amount of time (around 10 minutes each). Zelina Vega vs. Toni Storm and Carmella vs. Liv Morgan, however, were given a combined total of around 3 or 4 minutes.
Fans were also left baffled by Storm's burial and Morgan being overlooked for the umpteenth time.
Now, though, Fightful Select is reporting that Morgan was supposed to win and that there has been "significant frustration" backstage from both in-ring Superstars and staff regarding how women's matches are being booked. There's also a significant amount of unhappiness about the time anyone who isn't a top star (like Becky Lynch or Charlotte Flair) receives on TV.
We'll see what happens during tonight's RAW when Shayna Baszler vs. Dana Brooke and Doudrop vs. Natalya take place. Honestly, it's hard to imagine those matches getting much time, and it's definitely beginning to feel like this Queen's Crown tournament is a waste of time.
