When the lawsuit regarding Vince McMahon's alleged sexual abuse and trafficking first made headlines, everyone was shocked when Brock Lesnar's name was dragged into the whole sordid affair.
In a damning exposé, McMahon was said to have offered WWE employee Janel Grant—the woman he's accused of abusing—to Lesnar as a bonus, of sorts, for signing a new deal. Texts showed that Lesnar responded positively to his boss's suggestion, though we've seen nothing to indicate they ever met (the former UFC star may have also believed he and McMahon were simply sharing a joke).
Either way, we haven't seen Lesnar in a WWE ring since 2023's SummerSlam, when he was defeated by Cody Rhodes. That all changed last night at the same PLE, when The Beast made his way to the ring and brutalised former Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena.
Fans in the building lost their minds, but the reaction on social media has been very mixed.
Talking after SummerSlam ended, Triple H said, "[The] reaction was exactly what I thought it was gonna be, which was, if there had been a roof on this place, it wouldn't be here anymore. The dynamic in the room in WWE changes when The Beast is here."
"Seeing Brock Lesnar come back, anything that you thought was happening sort of all goes out the window because the factor of Brock now just changes that dynamic so incredibly. It makes it unpredictable," he continued, before revealing that Cena wanted to face Lesnar one final time.
"One of the first things I said to him [Cena, before his retirement tour] is, 'Who do you want, and how?' And we're working through that."
It has since been widely reported that the former UFC Champion was flown into Minnesota on Saturday and brought to the Teterboro airport on a private plane. He was kept hidden through all of Sunday, and only appeared backstage when the main event was already underway.
Apparently, it's unclear whether TKO's legal department had to clear him of any wrongdoing before this return. However, as he's only named in the lawsuit and not being sued, WWE likely feels the dust has settled after the past two years of Lesnar being absent from our screens.
It seems WWE was aware of possible backlash, as yesterday's post-show press conference was cancelled (which is certainly one way of avoiding questions about the lawsuit).
