Here we go again.
The RAW after WrestleMania was widely hailed as one of the worst post-PLE shows in recent memory, and that was ultimately blamed on Vince McMahon's presence backstage.
After returning to the company as Executive Chairman as part of WWE's sale to Endeavor, the moustachioed near-octogenarian wasted no time in getting hands-on in creative. The hope was that it might be a one-off, but it's now become apparent that Vince is getting increasingly involved with what we see on television each week.
During last night's RAW, for example, multiple sources are reporting that he was working remotely from home, changing the finishes of several matches and the bouts themselves on occasion.
The Street Profits vs. Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin was added to the show by Vince, while a number of segments featuring female Superstars were cut from the show. Among them was a backstage interview with Candice LeRae and Piper Niven and another with Adam Pearce, Sonya Deville, and Chelsea Green.
This doesn't bode well for LeRae and Niven as they were also cut by Vince on the RAW after WrestleMania.
Vince has never put much stock in women's wrestling, with him mostly just paying lip service to the division after pressure online from fans and media outlets.
It's a shame to see things head in this direction, especially as the quality of WWE television increased significantly when Triple H was calling the shots on his own. Now, we've seen an increase in nonsensical booking, repetitive matches, fewer announcements before shows, and odd decisions that can only come from the mind of an out-of-touch 78-year-old.
We'll see what happens from here, but with Vince back "in the weeds," this could be a long summer...
