The city of Nashville, Tennessee, has officially entered the race to host WrestleMania 44 in 2028, placing a hard-to-ignore offer that's already generating plenty of buzz on social media among fans and industry insiders.
Bryan Alvarez was the first to break the news that the city has submitted a formal bid to WWE, with the hope being that the Showcase of the Immortals will return to the U.S. after next year's visit to Saudi Arabia. The proposal includes a significant cash incentive along with additional tax benefits, making it clear that the city is serious about landing sports entertainment’s biggest spectacle.
According to Alvarez, the bid is "$3.5 million plus tax breaks." This comes after recent comments from WWE President Nick Khan, who got everyone talking after a company-wide town hall where he teased the company's plans. "Wait until you hear the announcement on where we’re going to be for WrestleMania in 2028," he told attendees, hinting that the location reveal will be a shocker.
Does Nashville fit the bill? Not necessarily, especially with WWE fans overseas—the UK, for example—hoping that the Show of Shows might head to their neck of the woods.
Still, Nashville has been steadily establishing itself as a capable host for large-scale WWE events. Its proactive and well-funded bid underscores how fiercely competitive the pursuit of WrestleMania has become. Known for delivering massive economic impact through tourism, hotel bookings, and worldwide exposure, the event now has cities scrambling to roll out substantial offers in hopes of securing it.
WWE has shown a clear preference for markets that can provide both impressive stadium venues and strong financial commitments. By entering the conversation early with a notable incentive package, Nashville has quickly placed itself among the frontrunners for 2028.
More cities are expected to submit their own proposals in the coming months. Still, this early move has already put the Tennessee city firmly in the lead. Landing WrestleMania would mark a significant achievement for Nashville as it looks to grow its reputation as a premier destination for major entertainment events.
Bringing WWE's flagship weekend to the city would deliver an enormous boost and further solidify its standing as a go-to hub for high-profile spectacles. While the final decision is still some time away, the race for WrestleMania 44 has begun.
Of course, as we saw when Minnesota announced that WrestleMania 42 would take place in Minneapolis (only for it to head back to Las Vegas for a second year thanks to a vastly higher bid), even an early announcement should be taken with a pinch of salt until plans are formalised.
