That main event certainly didn't play out as expected, did it?
We'll get to that in due course, but Night 2 of WrestleMania was another great effort from WWE even if the final match left a bad taste in the mouths of many fans.
Brock Lesnar and Omos kicked off the night with a short match that saw The Beast pick up the 1-2-3 after hitting the giant with an F-5. The women's Tag Team Showcase match was up next and, as expected, Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler defeated Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez, Natalya and Shotzi, and Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville.
Gunther defended the Intercontinental Championship against Drew McIntyre and Sheamus, and retained his title after tensions boiled over between the two friends. With that, Gunther powerbombed Sheamus onto McIntyre and pinned the latter for the win.
Despite the fact WWE has been building up Asuka in recent months, she failed to overcome Bianca Belair as the RAW Women's Champion retained with the KOD.
There was no sign of Bobby Lashley and LA Knight on the card, but we did get a surprise when Snoop Dog announced that The Miz would have to face Shane McMahon. Unfortunately, Shane tore his quad just minutes into the contest, prompting the rapper to take over with a People's Elbow, meaning he won the match in place of the boss' son.
Edge, meanwhile, squared off with "The Demon" Finn Balor and finally put this feud to rest with a con-chair-to.
We've already told you about the main event, and Roman Reigns did indeed retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes with an assist from Solo Sikoa.
Despite what many fans believe, Fightful Select is reporting that this was not a last-minute decision on the returning Vince McMahon's part and has been the plan for several weeks. Clearly, Rhodes' story isn't over yet...and the Head of the Table is aiming for a 1000-day title reign.
