WWE Clash in Italy takes place this Sunday, May 31, at the Inalpi Arena in Turin, Italy. The Kickoff show is now confirmed to begin at 12 pm ET, with the main show beginning at 2 pm ET/11 am PT/7 pm BST/8 pm CEST.
The first hour will be streamed for free on ESPN, though the PLE itself will be streamed in its entirety—in the U.S., at least—on the ESPN App (ESPN Unlimited). Overseas, you'll find the show on Netflix.
As for the match card, we have five confirmed bouts for the show, which has an undeniable WrestleMania feel. With the Showcase of the Immortals in the rearview and SummerSlam fast approaching, WWE is likely going to start the build to that event in Italy...
World Heavyweight Championship "Tribal Combat" Match
Roman Reigns (c) vs. Jacob Fatu
Undisputed WWE Championship Match
Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Gunther
WWE Women's Championship Match
Becky Lynch (c) vs. Sol Ruca
Women's Intercontinental Championship Match
Becky Lynch (c) vs. Sol Ruca
Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi
After this PLE, we could see some big changes in WWE. Fatu may be the new Tribal Chief, for example, which seems likely amid reports Reigns is taking several weeks off after the event. There are also four titles on the line, while Lesnar vs. Femi is surely setting up a third match between the two at SummerSlam in The Beast's home state of Minnesota.
During a recent interview, Netflix Vice President of Sports Gabe Spitzer explained how Clash in Italy came to be. "When we sit down with them at the beginning of this year, whether it’s Nick Khan or Paul Levesque, their Chief Content Officer, it’s what are places that we can go around the world that’re gonna help grow WWE but also be beneficial to Netflix."
"And this year, we knew, in Italy, we were launching in April, and later this month in May, they’re gonna do one of their big PLEs, Premium Live Events in Turin, so it’s a way to push people to watch on Netflix, but it’s a way to grow their business as well," he added, confirming that the show is being held in Italy specifically to tie into WWE's recent move to Netflix in the country.
Spitzer also opened up on how WWE has performed on the streaming platform. "It’s been great. It’s been above our expectations, and I think, as I said, we know that audience is there in the U.S., and I think the win for both us and WWE would be continuing to grow that around the world."
Stay tuned for all the biggest updates from Clash in Italy this Sunday.
