Well, we certainly didn't see this coming on a sleepy Saturday afternoon!
Bray Wyatt, who hasn't appeared on WWE television since the RAW after WrestleMania, has officially been released by the company. In a statement shared on WWE.com, it simply states: "WWE has come to terms on the release of Bray Wyatt. We wish him the best in all his future endeavors."
Wyatt signed with Wyatt in 2009 and debuted on the main roster as Husky Harris. After a brief stint with Nexus, he went back to the developmental brand and was repackaged as cult leader Bray Wyatt alongside followers Luke Harper and Erick Rowan. That led to a mostly successful run that would ultimately see him feud with the likes of John Cena, The Shield, Daniel Bryan, and Randy Orton.
He did win the WWE Championship, but start and stop pushes meant he was repackaged again. Returning in 2019 as a new iteration of the Bray Wyatt character in the Firefly Funhouse, he'd then debut The Fiend character (who was so over with fans that they turned on Seth Rollins).
WWE started struggling to book The Fiend from there, and disappointing losses to Goldberg, Orton, and Roman Reigns followed. M.I.A. since WrestleMania, it's been clear Wyatt is unhappy with the way he's used - or not - by WWE for a while, and we can't help but think an AEW debut is now inevitable.
It sounds like this might be a joint decision on WWE and Wyatt's part, so we'll see what happens next. However, something tells us that Tony Khan is definitely going to be interesting in him...
