WWE Has Revealed The TWELVE Superstars Who Will Compete In World Heavyweight Championship Tournament

A tournament to crown the new World Heavyweight Champion will begin on RAW tonight and WWE has now revealed the 12 Superstars who will go to war on that show and SmackDown ahead of Night of Champions!

Triple H recently revealed plans to crown a new World Heavyweight Champion who will be exclusive to RAW.

He followed that announcement by confirming the new title holder will be crowned at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia later this month, with a tournament set to decide which two Superstars will compete for the belt taking place on RAW and SmackDown in the coming weeks.

Now, the 12 Superstars who will compete for a chance to wrestle for the World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions have finally been revealed.

Cody Rhodes, Damian Priest, Finn Bálor, Seth "Freakin" Rollins, Shinsuke Nakamura, and The Miz will represent RAW, and AJ Styles, Austin Theory, Bobby Lashley, Edge, Rey Mysterio, and Sheamus will battle it out for SmackDown. It's an impressive lineup, but who stands a chance to actually win the title?

The Miz, Sheamus, and Rey Mysterio seem highly unlikely at this stage in their careers, as does AJ Styles. Unless Judgement Day is about to get a huge push, we can probably discount Finn Bálor and Damian Priest too (though it would be great to see WWE finally pull the trigger on the latter).

Bobby Lashley and Edge are strong contenders, but Austin Theory is likely out of the running seeing as he's United States Champion and has been drafted to SmackDown

WWE is finally taking Shinsuke Nakamura seriously, of course, but it may well be too little too late for him. With that in mind, we're betting this tournament comes down to Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins.

I'd guess Lashley, Edge or Rollins if they want to have a big name attached to the inaugural title, otherwise Balor or Nakamura could really use the prestige a title run would bring them at this point. The whole Judgement Day could use a bit of buildup, it's weird that dominant Women's Champion Ripley is in a faction of jobbers, Priest and Dominik could at least have a cute run with one of the tag belts.

Unless plans for Rhodes to dethrone Roman have died I don't see why he would win this, he should either lose at the final fight or lose halfway due to shenanigans (easy way to keep his feud with Lesnar going if they want that).
