Following Saturday Night's Main Event this past weekend, all eyes are now shifting to the upcoming Royal Rumble PLE. That will give us a much better idea of what to expect from WrestleMania 42, and some huge rumours about WWE's plans are already swirling.
In our latest WWE rumor roundup, we have news on Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntyre, former AEW star Powerhouse Hobbs—who is indeed a WWE Superstar now—and how creative is shaping up for the Showcase of the Immortals in Las Vegas this April.
Be warned that some potential spoilers for what's ahead follow from this point on...
- WWE fans aren't as hot on Cody Rhodes now as they were a year or two ago, and the American Nightmare has been drawing some boos. Much has been said about the possibility of WWE pulling the trigger on the heel turn that never happened in AEW, but that's not currently in the works, based on an update from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Why? At least one of the reasons, based on this update, is that "his merchandise numbers are nothing to be tinkered with."

It was recently reported that Triple H has decided against Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns III at WrestleMania 42. Addressing that, Dave Meltzer has said, "There are those who did think Reigns vs. Rhodes was the way to go, but Paul Levesque changed his mind, and all the creative in that direction went into the trash."
However, despite speculation that The Rock might be looking to insert himself into another WrestleMania main event, it's said, "Dwayne Johnson has not weighed in at all on current WWE creative."
- According to Dave Meltzer, Powerhouse Hobbs parted ways with AEW on a positive note, but the decision to jump ship to WWE was "based on his family, which would seem to indicate he got a better money deal."
He added, "Some people go to WWE with the idea of going even with a lesser money offer, because it’s either their dream, or belief they want to be in the top place, or that it’s a better stepping stone to Hollywood than AEW."

Bodyslam.net has backed up reports that both Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre were in favour of the Undisputed WWE Championship changing hands earlier this month.
They each wanted a new direction before Road to WrestleMania began, and McIntyre is not expected to be a transitional champion; instead, he'll head into the Show of Shows with the title, potentially for a rematch with Rhodes.

There's been speculation for a while about RAW General Manager Adam Pearce potentially stepping back into the ring, potentially for a match with Bron Breakker. It's a fun notion, but Dave Meltzer says, "Pearce was a good independent wrestler but stopped wrestling a long time ago, and there are no plans right now for him to wrestle."
