Night of Champions and Saturday Night's Main Event are fast approaching, but so is SummerSlam. It's no wonder then that the rumor mill is churning out a lot of exciting claims about the coming weeks in WWE (especially as that's going to be a two-night extravaganza).
From big plans for Danhausen to a major SummerSlam match for Oba Femi amid struggling RAW ratings, we have some huge potential reveals here (and a lot of spoilers).
You can check out the latest WWE rumors in the roundup below, and keep checking back here for all the latest on what's to come as we have it.
- Could AEW star Jack Perry be WWE-bound? It doesn't seem likely, and Bryan Alvarez has learned that while his deal with AEW is "up," he is "currently negotiating" with the company.
- According to Dave Meltzer, WWE intends to give Danhausen an even bigger push after his involvement with the Knicks' title win (he "uncursed" them, remember). He's expected to do a lot of crossover appearances, particularly with ESPN. WWE and the Knicks have already released merchandise featuring the SmackDown Superstar's likeness, with the idea to "push this as hard as they can."
- Alvarez has added to that, explaining, "The Danhausen/Knicks deal is being put together by TKO. WWE cameras will be at the parade, and they will likely be putting together a Knicks/Danhausen documentary for YouTube."
- Meltzer has also shared his take on the possibility of us seeing Oba Femi challenging Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam next month. That may seem premature, but WWE "may feel pressed that they have to do something big" due to declining RAW ratings on Netflix.
- Apparently, the June 1 episode had fewer same-day viewers in the U.S. than AEW Dynamite on TBS later that same week. It's no secret that Meltzer favours AEW, but if those numbers are accurate, it's a troubling sign for WWE.
- He added that "those in WWE have all said that things have been better with [Paul] Levesque in charge, such as more cohesive stories and less tearing things up and dropping them as was the case with [Vince] McMahon’s constantly changing scripts even when the public and talent were told Levesque was in charge."
- False Finish has learned that WWE Women's Champion Rhea Ripley vs. Jacy Jayne has been "pitched internally" for SummerSlam.
- The latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter explains that WWE's decision to once again change Money in the Bank's date "has to do with talks with NBC regarding Peacock and ESPN regarding ESPN Unlimited."
