As you might expect, WWE's decision to release Bray Wyatt was a huge talking point among Superstars at this weekend's Live events. According to Fightful, despite the fact talent was told the decision was made as a result of "budget cuts," it's said that "almost nobody" believes that's the case.
While WWE has been looking to save money by releasing wrestling from the huge money contracts they signed when the company was attempting to keep talent from AEW, The Fiend has been a huge merchandise seller for the company. As a result, this explanation really doesn't make sense.
Of course, something it's hard not to notice is the fact that WWE has basically given Wyatt's gimmick to Alexa Bliss and spent the past few months pushing her in his place. Because of that, there are a lot of fans - and wrestlers - who feel WWE has simply figured out a way to make money from the character Wyatt played a key role in creating without having his contract on the books.
The site also adds that nearly 20 people in WWE have reached out to them to share their frustrations, with even some veteran talent feeling "like their jobs [aren't] safe any longer."
As if that's not bad enough, the morale that increased when fans returned to shows is believed to have plummeted, and it doesn't sound like WWE is a happy working environment at all right now.
Hopefully, we'll learn more about Wyatt's release soon.
