Could The CEO be in trouble?
Mercedes Mone is coming off another successful title defense against Anna Jay at the Holiday Bash, but the TBS Champion was given no time to celebrate. That’s because Kris Statlander is getting another crack at the belt.
Statlander originally challenged Mone for the TBS title at Full Gear and the 32-year-old beat her clean in the ring. The match was heavily praised as one of Mone’s best, and now these two will get to run it back At World’s End. The former TBS demanded a rematch and Mone was in the Christmas spirit to give one.
Mone has kept the belt for 210 days thus far, beating Anna Jay, Willow Nightingale, Hikaru Shida, Queen Aminata, Nyla Rose, and Emi Sukura in the process.
However, Statlander pulled off an impressive feat by being the first woman to beat Jade Cargill, who held the title for 508 days. Statlander had a solid 174 day reign where she successfully defended her belt against Dr. Britt Baker, Skye Blue, Ruby Soho, Julia Hart, Taya Valkyrie, Emi Sakura, Mercedes Martinez, and Robyn Renegade. The former TBS Champion knows how to get the job done, and Mone’s days as champion could be numbered.
The card is rounding out nicely with several more matches expected to be added within the coming week. Check out the updated line-up for At World’s End on December 28th where a four-way match for the AEW World title will headline the final AEW pay-per-view of 2024:
