Preview & Predictions for AEW Dynamite:
On tap for tonight's episode, for some reason, Master P is one of the few things being advertised. Why is he there? Is it just to flaunt that AEW can have celebrities show up after WWE went overboard with their celebrity promotion over the past week?
Lately, it's been a trend for AEW to not advertise almost anything ahead of time, which is strange considering their approach for years was to tout all the matches they would have. For a month or so, it's been one or two at most, and that's the same tonight.
The Young Bucks are back in action and will face the team of Kevin Knight and "Speedball" Mike Bailey. There's a good chance Ricochet gets involved and helps Nick and Matt Jackson win.
Also, Kris Statlander faces Jamie Hayter in a semifinals match for the Women's Owen Hart Cup. This could go either way, and the winner will face Mercedes Mone in the finals at AEW Double or Nothing. Hayter is the fresher match, so that might give her the edge to get the win.
The only other thing announced in advance is that FTR is "returning" after their "suspension", which should effectively mean another variation of their promos as of late where they do something that gets them in trouble as they're throwing tantrums left and right. It's too early for Cope to return, so at most, they start a feud with someone else and/or go after a tag team on their own volition.
Of course, even without it being advertised, we're likely to see advancements in the storyline between MJF and The Hurt Syndicate, something with The Death Riders, The Opps, Will Ospreay, Swerve Strickland, "Hangman" Adam Page and other big time players.
Here are your results for AEW Dynamite April 23, 2025:
- Master P starts the show, introducing The Opps. The Death Riders came out and were put down. Young Bucks and Kazuchika Okada then took out The Opps. Swerve Strickland came out next to back them up and all the heels retreated. Kenny Omega then also came out with a steel chair in hand. Samoa Joe says that if Jon Moxley wants to face him, he'll gladly take back his AEW World Championship.
- Renee Paquette interviewed The Patriarchy. Christian Cage tries to take the credit for Nick Wayne winning the ROH World Television Championship, and even yanks the belt off Wayne's shoulders. He implies he is sleeping with Wayne's mother. Wayne points out that when you stick to the plan, you actually win championships, and Cage reluctantly gives him the belt back before saying "I love my family" and walking off.
- Mark Briscoe defeated Ricochet by pinfall.
- FTR are now joined by Stokely Hathaway. They beat down The Rock 'n' Roll Express. Paragon chased Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler off.
- The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) defeated "Speedball" Mike Bailey & Kevin Knight by pinfall.
- Queen Aminata answered a challenge backstage from "Timeless" Toni Storm about an eliminator match for Collision.
- MJF tried to convince The Hurt Syndicate to give him three thumbs up again, even apologizing to them and offering a car to Bobby Lashley. Lashley and Shelton Benjamin drove off with the car, but still gave him a thumbs down.
- MJF interrupted an interview Adam Page was having to taunt him about how he's somehow going to win the AEW World Championship again before Hangman does and how Page is going to fail in the Owen Hart Cup.
- Josh Alexander & Konosuke Takeshita defeated Will Ospreay & Brody King by pinfall. Kyle Fletcher came out after the match, as did Hangman, but Page was jumped by Roppongi Vice.
- Women's Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Semifinals Match: Jamie Hayter defeated Kris Statlander by pinfall to advance to the finals.
