Adam Cole recently left WWE and wasted no time in making the leap to AEW. Now, he's "All Elite," BAY-BAY, but a very interesting story recently did the rounds claiming that Vince McMahon planned to make him Keith Lee's manager on the main roster. To say that would be a waste of his talent as a wrestler would be an understatement, but we know how little Vince values smaller competitors.
With Lee repackaged as a heel, Cole would have been his heater similar to Lio Rush's alliance with Bobby Lashley a few years ago. It was Dave Meltzer who broke the news, though he did note that the idea may have come from Bruce Prichard. Regardless, this came as news to the former NXT Champion during a recent interview with TV Insider.
"I personally have never heard anything regarding that," he confirmed. "I touched base a little bit on how my meeting with Vince McMahon went really well. We talked for about 30 minutes. He had a lot of complimentary things to say. As far as hearing that specific thing, that was not something I heard about."
"My four years with NXT was fantastic," Cole added. "My four years with WWE was awesome, but at the end of the day, I wanted to end up with AEW. Now that I’m here, I’m stoked."
It's clear that Cole isn't going to drop any bombshells or overly negative comments about his time in WWE and NXT, but that speaks to what a professional he is. It's also no secret that he became close with Triple H and Shawn Michaels, so chances are he doesn't want to talk badly about them either.
His time in NXT is over, anyway, and you can now find him on Dynamite and Rampage each week.
