Tony Khan has grown increasingly obsessed with the supposed rivalry between AEW and WWE, but it seems many of the people working for him feel differently.
While the AEW President is busy comparing himself to Pepsi and WWE to Harvey Weinstein (yes, that really happened), EVP Kenny Omega has heaped praise on former Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
In fact, it might be fair to say he's acknowledged the Tribal Chief!
"I think he's incredible. I don't think he's boring either," Omega said during a recent Twitch stream. "I would actually say that I'm pretty jealous because Roman Reigns is presented in the exact same way that I would love to be presented."
"He's presented as the man who is the champion to have big matches at the pay-per-views where you're either really cheering for him or you're cheering for someone else. That's professional wrestling. He's getting to do what I did in New Japan so I can't be a hater on that. I'm a fan."
Many fans have taken Omega's comments as a sign he's dissatisfied with his place in AEW. There may be some truth to that, particularly after recent events saw Khan decide to become an on-air character after being "attacked" by Jack Perry and The Young Bucks.
Omega had the chance to go to WWE and declined, with the door likely closed on that now ever happening. At the moment, he's sidelined with diverticulitis but will return to television during Wednesday's AEW Dynamite to address the actions of his fellow EVPs.
As for Reigns, he's taking a few months off after dropping the title to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania earlier this month.
The Head of the Table isn't the only WWE Superstar Omega has praised because he's also spoken highly of John Cena. "I think he's great, a great professional wrestler," he recently said. "He's done an incredible amount for the business that I don't think anyone will be able to match anytime soon."
"The reason why is because Cena wasn't doing anything for the sake of an accomplishment or trophy or recognition, people went out of their way after the fact to say, 'Look at all this stuff John is doing in his off time.'"
"For the amount of effort he has put in to make people's lives better, whether it be Make-A-Wish, fans at the arenas, or autograph signings, it's a great example for what the face of a company should be or for the face of the industry," Omega added. "I'm a very big proponent of John Cena, I think he's incredible."
