AEW Star MJF Has WALKED OUT Of The Company Ahead Of Wardlow Match At DOUBLE OR NOTHING Tonight

MJF may be a despicable heel, but he's one of AEW's biggest draws and most popular stars. However, he may miss tonight's Double or Nothing PPV after seemingly walking out of the company due to contract issues.

MJF no-showed a meet and greet yesterday, but it wasn't because he was playing into his heel gimmick. Those at the event were told that he wasn't answering his phone, and it's since been revealed that there are major issues between the popular pro wrestler and AEW.

While we've previously heard that MJF is looking to secure a considerably more lucrative deal than the one he signed when AEW launched (he's a major draw and a highlight on Dynamite each week), various outlets are reporting that tensions between him and Tony Khan are worsening. There's a lot of conflicting information, but it seems MJF isn't kidding about making the leap to WWE in 2024.

Late last night, we started hearing that MJF had booked a flight to leave Las Vegas, thereby meaning he would miss that highly anticipated match against Wardlow at tonight's Double or Nothing PPV. It's a bout that's been more than two years in the making, and common sense says MJF is looking to leverage the deal he wants by threatening to miss the event.

Apparently, he didn't end up getting on the plane and is still in Las Vegas. This isn't a work and plays into what MJF has said about being a huge ratings draw who gets paid less than the various former WWE Superstars who have signed with AEW. We don't know how Khan feels about this situation, but fingers crossed the two sides have come to an agreement.

Needless to say, we'll keep you guys updated on this situation as we learn more.

If he wants to go to WWE in 2024, does that mean he has almost 2 years left on his AEW contract? Why is bothering with these stunts now?

He is the best heel in wrestling,no one comes close.

If he even goes to WWE he won't be able to keep the character,Vince won't allow him to say what he gets away with on AEW.

@marvel72 - the way everything is micromanaged and scripted in WWE, it would be sad to watch someone with his talent on the mic be so….lazily written. Lord the stupid sales pitches from commentators on WWE makes watching it unbearable. No spontaneity or simply calling the matches. It’s become unwatchable to me and I watched WWE/WWF, NWA, WCW, etc for decades. Austin, the Rock, Jericho, etc who excelled at promos would have stunk up the place in today’s environment.

@lawndart - I agree with everything you said, I started watching wrestling in the 80s, Wrestlemania 3 all the way through to the Attitude Era,big fan of ECW,Stopped watching WWE started watching Impact, then stopped that. Then AEW began and I started watching NJPW.

MJF is the best heel in the business,no one comes close.
