While WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart has appeared on AEW programming since the company launched in 2019, the outspoken Canadian has since made it clear it was a one-off.

During a recent "Signed By Superstars" appearance on Friday night, Hart was asked if he's ever been approached about being involved with the tournament names after his late brothers: AEW's Owen Hart Cup.

"No, nobody’s ever asked me," Bret confirmed. "I’d have to think about it. I like Tony [Khan] and I’d be happy to help out but I don’t know if I want to go down. I think it might ruffle WWE’s feathers and I get all my [royalties], everything tied in through them. But then again, it can’t hurt to ask."

Elsewhere in the Q&A, Hart named his favourite opponents and shared high praise for Owen when he pointed out, "Curt Hennig and then Owen. Owen is close. Curt was the safest guy ever."

As for how he feels about Bill Goldberg's recent comments about him, the Hitman shared exactly the sort of response you'd expect when it comes to his fellow WWE Hall of Famer. "I don’t pay much attention to Bill," he stated. "I don’t know anyone that does."

Talking about delivering the kick which led to a career-ending injury for Hart, Goldberg said back in June, "I love you, Bret. Don’t be such a pr**k — that’s all. Grow up. I love the guy, he’s an icon. Just get over it. That’s all. I’m sorry. What do you want me to do? As a human being, yeah — it saddens me that he can’t come to grips with the fact that it sucks, man."

"But I’m not gonna be a victim of it. Not anymore. It’s like having a beef with Flair at this age. Really? What are you going to do?"

We don't think Bret and Bill are ever going to put their differences aside, so hoping for some sort of public or private reconciliation just seems ridiculous at this point.

As for the Owen Hart Cup, the third edition of the men's and women's tournaments concluded on July 10 during an episode of AEW Dynamite which took place in Harts' hometown of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Mariah May and Bryan Danielson were crowned this year's winners, joining a list of previous winners which includes Adam Cole, Britt Baker, Ricky Starks, and Willow Nightingale.
