Will Ospreay & Swerve Strickland Could Be Banned From World Title Shots For 1 Full Year

There were three updates to the upcoming AEW All In: Texas card that were announced on tonight's edition of AEW Dynamite 100—one of which could see two of the top world title contenders banned from getting a chance at the gold for one full year.

Last week, a challenge was put out to The Young Bucks by Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland for a tag team match on the show. An extra stipulation was attached to the challenge, where Ospreay and Strickland want to revoke Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson from having their Executive Vice President powers in All Elite Wrestling.

The Young Bucks failed to respond to this challenge, so tonight, Ospreay and Strickland came out for another segment where they again asked for an answer. The Jacksons said no, rejecting this on the principle that they stand to gain nothing out of this match if they were to win, so there's no reward to be worth the risk of losing their EVP statuses.

Ospreay then told Strickland to "trust him" and suggested that if they were to lose to The Young Bucks, he and Strickland will forfeit their ability to challenge for the AEW World Championship for the next 12 months.

At first upon hearing this, Strickland was immediately upset, clearly thinking this was an idea he wouldn't want to sign up for, as that's a long time to be incapable of obtaining the top prize in the company. However, after taking a moment to think it over after The Young Bucks said they would only agree if they had confirmation that Swerve was willing to put this on the line as well, Strickland eventually decided to go along with it, agreeing to the terms.

This means unless this match goes to a draw via a time limit expiration or is ruled a no-contest from outside interference or something—both of which would be cop-out ways to book this to avoid either stipulation coming true—either The Young Bucks will be kayfabe stripped of their EVP titles, or Ospreay and Strickland will be unable to challenge for the world title for 1 full year.

This significantly ups the stakes of their match for All In, which has now been made official, along with the rest of the updated card detailed here:

  • Texas Death Match for the AEW World Championship: Jon Moxley (c) vs. “Hangman” Adam Page
  • Singles Match for the AEW Women’s World Championship: “Timeless” Toni Storm (c) vs. Mercedes Moné
  • Winner Takes All Unification Match for the AEW Unified Championship: Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada vs. International Champion Kenny Omega
  • Men’s Casino Gauntlet Match: Mark Briscoe #1, MJF #2, and more participants to be announced — Stipulation: The winner receives a future AEW World Championship match.
  • Women’s Casino Gauntlet Match: Kris Statlander and more participants to be announced — Stipulation: The winner receives a future AEW Women’s World Championship match.
  • Tag Team Match: Will Ospreay & Swerve Strickland vs. The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson & Nicholas Jackson)— Stipulation: If The Young Bucks win the match, Ospreay and Strickland can't challenge for the world title for 1 year. If The Young Bucks lose the match, then they will be forced to relinquish their EVP roles in All Elite Wrestling.
