CM Punk Heading To AEW Now Seems Like A Certainty; Social Media Post Appears To Tease His Debut Date

Rumour has it that CM Punk is heading to All Elite Wrestling, and Dave Meltzer has now weighed in on the matter. Talking to fans on the Wrestling Observer Forum, he noted that there are things going on behind the scenes in AEW that suggest that even if Punk isn't signed, he has come to some sort of understanding with the company.

Meltzer adds that there have indeed been "talks about certain dates" with Punk, a strong indication that this is a serious deal and one that's going to see the Best in the World return to the ring.

"Things going on behind the scenes as far as talks about certain dates and such make me think if this isn’t signed, they have an understanding and unless [there is] a blow up, it’s happening."

Between this and Daniel Bryan's rumoured debut, AEW could be about to gain a major advantage.

Adding further fuel to the fire is the fact CM Punk recently shared a clip of the song "Sirius" by The Alan Parsons Project in one of his Instagram Stories. Widely known as the theme used by the Chicago Bulls, it's understandably led to speculation that he will make his AEW debut at All Out in September.

The show takes place in Chicago, Punk's hometown, and is likely where his return would generate the biggest pop. Either way, him signing with AEW would be a huge deal and a big win for the company.

September feels like a lifetime away, but we'll be sure to keep you updated as more is revealed.

I expect a very awkward first set of matches, given how rusty he probably is after all this years. I hope AEW doesn't fall into a rut elevating all this great WWE talent they're getting over their in-house people.
