As we reported over the weekend, Dave Meltzer strongly hinted that Bray Wyatt is on his way to AEW. It makes sense after his shock WWE release, of course, but Bryan Alvarez has now cast some doubt on that being the case. Talking during a recent edition of the Bryan and Vinny Show, he didn't outright debunk his regular co-host's claims but isn't so sure the move is set in stone.
"[Dave] may be right and it may happen but, as soon as that show went up I started getting text messages and they were from people in AEW," he explained. "It was not Tony Khan. These were people that probably should know and they were like ‘Did Dave say that Bray is coming?’ And I said, ‘I don’t know, I didn’t do the show, I haven’t heard it yet.’ Essentially, they were unaware of this."
"Again, I am not saying that Bray isn’t going or that Dave is wrong. Dave may know something that they don’t know, which would be sort of weird. But that’s the story right now."
Alvarez went on to explain that the Wyatt situation is a little different to CM Punk, and noted that "I’m like 99.9999 percent sure that Bryan Danielson is going to AEW." He did point out that his gut is telling him that an "All Elite" future is on the horizon for Wyatt, but it's interesting to hear his thoughts on Bryan.
It's beginning to feel like the Leader of the Yes Movement is definitely going to join Punk in his new home, and that's going to be another massive blow to WWE at a time they don't need that.
Throw in Wyatt, and we could see the gap between AEW Dynamite and RAW narrow in a big way.
