Nicholas Jackson Says That Tony Khan Wasn't A Fan Of Orange Cassidy At First

The former International Champion is one of the top names of AEW, but had it not been for the Young Bucks then Tony Khan probably wouldn't have hired Orange Cassidy.

Did you know that Tony Khan wasn’t a big fan of Orange Cassidy at first?

Matthew and Nicholas Jackson spilled some tea on Social Suplex’s Tunnel Talk. The Young Bucks are good friends with Trent Beretta, Chuck Taylor, and Orange Cassidy and Jacksons recalled trying to convince Tony Khan that Cassidy was a good fit for AEW.

"Chuck Taylor, of course, we’ve been good buddies with him since the CHIKARA days as well. It’s funny, there is a lot of the CHIKARA guys backstage to this day. Bryce Remsberg is another one, we’ve always been friends with him too," said Jackson. "A lot of those guys, we specifically hired because of our CHIKARA days with them. I remember that Tony [Khan] wasn’t very high on Orange Cassidy at first so we had to kind of sell him on him for a little bit. And I remember Tony saying: ‘You guys were right.’"

Cassidy’s character does feel sports entertainment oriented. It’s one of the big reasons he stands out from many names on the AEW roster. It’s a good thing that Tony ultimately hired Orange Cassidy as he’s been one of the great homegrown talents that’s been showcased in AEW.

His International title run was tremendous and the 40-year-old continues to step his game up every time he’s asked to fight in the main event scene. Cassidy complimented the AEW president’s openness to professional wrestling and his overall generosity as a boss.

"Tony Khan is incredible; his generosity, his openness to professional wrestling and different types of professional wrestling.” Cassidy said in his Sportskeeda WrestleBinge interview. His ability to identify great professional wrestling and allowing those professional wrestlers to do what they do best. He's extremely generous. Throughout the pandemic, he was a person that the whole company and their families relied on and he did not sway from holding us all up, so yeah, he's the best."

I think it’s safe to say that Orange Cassidy will be all elite for a good while. The former International Champion is coming off a loss to “Hangman” Adam Page, so it should be interesting to see what happens to him next. Who knows, maybe Cassidy could get a rematch with Jon Moxley and win the AEW World title for the first time in his career. Speaking of title wins, The Young Bucks are fresh of their big will at Wrestle Kingdom 19 this past weekend.
