Real-Life Wrestling Couple Miro/Rusev And CJ Perry/Lana Confirm They're Getting Divorced

Miro and CJ Perry have been dating since 2014 and got married in 2016. Now, they've confirmed the plan is to end their marriage; the door remains open to the two AEW stars working together again, though!

TMZ Sports is reporting that AEW stars CJ Perry and Miro (Lana and Rusev in WWE) have ended their marriage seven years after they tied the knot. They were paired up in WWE as the Bulgarian Brute and Ravishing Russian, with their behind-the-scenes romance eventually making its way onto TV.

That led to a bizarre love triangle/square involving Bobby Lashley and  Liv Morgan, with it widely theorised that Vince McMahon wanted to punish Perry and Miro for making their romance public on social media.

According to the site, they decided to call it quits last winter after "years of an on-again, off-again relationship."

"Miro and I have made the difficult decision to separate after many wonderful years together,  and have decided to move on as friends, and hopefully onscreen characters somewhere down the road," CJ said in a brief statement. Miro has yet to comment.

It sounds like they simply grew apart and, no, this isn't a wrestling storyline (unless Tony Khan is going really deep with plans for these two on television). It's said the soon-to-be ex-husband and ex-wife plan to remain friends and that they may work together again in the future.

Interestingly, it's said Miro moved back to Bulgaria after the split and we can't help but wonder whether he might step away from the ring after what's proven to be a disappointing stint in AEW.

"We were always riding together after shows, and we were always next to each other while riding with different people in cars," Miro said in 2019 of how they started dating. "I felt like something was happening, but I didn’t want to scare anybody. I didn’t want to push her away. We kind of just took our time."

"Eventually, I invited her out on a date, and she started asking, 'What’s your favorite color?' Next thing you know we kiss, then we move in together. Then we bought a home."

"It’s been great. It’s so hard when you see some of the other boys," he added. "You got to leave your family or your wife behind because you got to go to Europe for two weeks, South America or South Africa. Here we are. We’re together traveling together experiencing life on the road living our best lives."

It's sad to hear their marriage has ended and it goes without saying that we wish them both the best moving forward. As always, keep checking back here for updates on what's next for them.
