Tony Khan has confirmed that this upcoming edition of AEW Rampage (airing December 27, 2024) will be the final episode "for the foreseeable future".

Rampage has been on the air since August 13, 2021, but while it holds the honor of being All Elite Wrestling's second television program, it quickly became just a notch above AEW Dark and AEW Dark: Elevation, as AEW Collision took priority as the B-show on Saturday nights to offset AEW Dynamite on Wednesday nights.

With the trademark filed for AEW Shockwave, there's no telling if that will be a replacement for Rampage, or if Rampage will return, or if either of those are true, in what fashion that will go down.

At least for now, we do know what we can treat as the finale of AEW Rampage will be made up of, as that episode was recorded in advance on December 22, 2024 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City.

According to various reports, here are SPOILERS for this Friday night's episode, which is being dubbed AEW Rampage New Year's Smash:

  • Chris Jericho (accompanied by The Learning Tree's Bryan Keith and Big Bill) defeated Anthony Bowens by pinfall. Max Caster is part to blame after a spot where he and Keith were wrestling over the ROH World Championship title and he inadvertently hit Bowens with the belt.
  • Private Party (Zay and Quen) defeated Alec Quest and Leo Sparrow by pinfall. After the match, Private Party got into a three-way fight with Top Flight, Lio Rush, and Action Andretti.
  • Thunder Rosa defeated Leila Grey by submission.
  • HOOK defeated Nick Wayne (accompanied by The Patriarchy's Christian Cage, Mother Wayne, and Kip Sabian) by submission with REDRUM.

In addition, some matches were taped for the upcoming broadcast of Ring of Honor:

  • MxM Collection won a match, but information on who their opponents were is still unverified
  • Lio Rush and Action Andretti defeated Rocky Romero and Homicide

When those segments will air is unknown, but they may be part of the ROH Boxing Day Brawl special episode, which was also taped in advance coinciding with Saturday's AEW Christmas Collision. Here are the spoilers of what those ROH tapings had:

  • Harley Cameron defeated Ashley Vox
  • Lee Johnson (with EJ Nduka) defeated Serpentico
  • Katsuyori Shibata & Tommy Billington defeated Premier Athletes (Ariya Daivari & Tony Nese)
  • Lexy Nair was expelled from MIT by Athena, who blamed Nair for how she almost lost the ROH Women’s World Championship at Final Battle
  • Toni Storm defeated Rebecca Scott.
  • Rocky Romero & Homicide defeated QT Marshall & Aaron Solo
  • Blake Christian defeated AR Fox
  • Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor, The Infantry & Lee Moriarty) defeated The Iron Savages & The Dark Order (Alex Reynolds & Evil Uno)
  • ROH Women’s World Television Champion Red Velvet defeated HANAKO
  • ROH World Television Champion Komander defeated Johnny TV
