On tonight's episode of AEW Dynamite, Tony Schiavone had an in-ring promo with Will Ospreay.

At first, Ospreay put over Kyle Fletcher—his opponent from AEW Revolution who he just defeated this past Sunday night in a brutal steel cage match—and spoke about how he's going to be a future world champion and will only get better.

Ospreay then turned his attention to story time, explaining that he upset his Mrs (indie wrestling Alex Windsor), who had told him not to do anything stupid in the match. Naturally, as Ospreay jumped off the top of the cage, he received a verbal lashing from her.

After that side note, the important part of Ospreay's promo came, as he reiterated something he's said before, in that he wants to be the top guy in AEW. In order to do that, he needs to win the AEW World Championship. But the problem is that there are a few other people who are already lined up for title opportunities ahead of him, as Cope will face Jon Moxley next week on AEW Dynamite and Swerve Strickland won a No. 1 contender's match against Ricochet at Revolution, so he already has a match scheduled for AEW Dynasty.

While "Switchblade" Jay White would later have a quick backstage interview where he'd say he'd be damned if he'd let Swerve stand in his way of being the No. 1 contender and seems to be poised to change that immediately, Ospreay was booked to just call a long shot, instead.

Despite many episodes of AEW Dynamite and AEW Collision, as well as the AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view happening in the meantime, Ospreay plans on getting a world title shot at All In: Texas in July, and his means of getting to that point is to win the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.

As the winner of the Owen Hart Cup gets a title shot, this would make sense, but this is also the first announcement of this year's tournament. No other competitors, nor the bracket or even when this begins and ends, has been announced. Given the situation, there's a good chance the finals are at Double or Nothing, but that would still leave the entirety of June and some of July left to kill time, so it may not even conclude until after that event.

Stay tuned to The Ring Report for more information as that comes out. But in the meantime, let us know if you think Ospreay will go on to win the Owen Hart Cup and the world title, or if you think something else will happen!
