What does the future hold for Brian Pillman Jr. and Davey Boy Smith Jr. in MLW?

According to Fightful, the Major League Wrestling stars have reportedly asked for their release from the independent promotion; however, both Pillman and Smith do intend to serve out the remaining time on their current deals.

Smith revealed on The Wrestling Inc. Daily podcast back in July that his deal would end in December. The second-generation star also said during the interview that he was looking get back into the WWE, namely NXT UK. At the moment, there’s no word on whether the former MLW World Tag Team Champion has had any talks with WWE officials recently.

As for Pillman Jr., his deal doesn’t end until next summer and the 27-year-old has made it clear that he’s interested in joining All Elite Wrestling. Since July, Brian has been competing mainly on AEW Dark with the all-new promotion, though the second-generation star originally made his AEW debut back in the 2019 Double or Nothing Casino Battle Royale.

The promotion has recently returned to television following their lengthy period from production due to the coronavirus pandemic. It's currently unknown whether MLW intends to write either Smith and Pillman off of television soon, or use the duo until their contracts expire.
