Cedric Alexander’s first match post-WWE has been confirmed.
The former WWE Cruiserweight Champion has been booking gigs left and right, but House of Glory has just announced that he will make his debut on May 9th.
Alexander was a notable name on the independent scene, though surprisingly, he’s never worked a House of Glory show until now. This news comes after Alexander was confirmed for an upcoming United Pro Wrestling show in North Carolina on May 10th. Thus far, an opponent has yet to be named for Alexander.
The former WWE star was released from his contract after being in the company for over eight years. The release wasn’t particularly shocking since it was clear that WWE didn’t see much in the 35-year-old as he was mainly used as enhancement talent. Interestingly enough, Alexander signed a lucrative multi-year deal with the promotion back in September 2024. It sounded as if WWE had plans for Alexander at one point, but they ultimately fell through.
However, Alexander did accomplish a lot during his eight years in WWE; in addition to the Cruiserweight Championship, Alexander won the WWE Tag Team titles during The Hurt Business reign, and he’s even a former 24/7 Champion.
He came in through the incredible Cruiserweight Classic tournament where he had a strong showing against Kota Ibushi and fans demanded WWE to sign Cedric Alexander. Though the revival of the cruiserweight division didn’t work out, guys like him, Musata Ali, and Buddy Matthews worked their asses off to make 205 Live was must see TV.
Alexander is a notable name, so he should have no problems getting work on the indie scene. Alexander isn’t the only former WWE name who will compete on House of Glory as Indi Hartwell is set for the same show as well.
Hartwell is currently making her rounds on the independent scene. In fact, the former WWE star just won the ROW (Renegades Of Wrestling) Women’s Championship earlier this month in Australia. Hartwell is clearly doing well for herself outside of the WWE bubble. Other names signed to the show are HOG Heavyweight Champion Mike Santana and HOG Tag Team Champions Mane Event. We’ll keep you updated on when the official card has been announced.
