The first time Cody Rhodes and Darby Allin faced off, the match went to a 20-minute time-limit draw, and the latter has wanted another shot at The American Nightmare ever since. Allin got it this week to kick off the first episode of AEW Dynamite of the new decade, but things didn't quite go his way.
The match was excellent, however, and Darby did come close to pulling out the victory. At one point, he managed to hit that potentially disastrous Coffin Drop on the apron that he missed during their first encounter. In the end, though, Arn Anderson proved to be invaluable when he alerted Cody to a second Coffin Drop attempt, telling his protege to put his knees up to block the impact.
After that, Rhodes was able to roll up his opponent for the pin.
Hopefully this isn't the last time we see these guys in the ring together.
