Former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Yuji Nagata will make his way to Ring of Honor for the upcoming Pure Championship tournament.
The New Japan star has been wrestling inside of the squared circle for nearly three decades and is arguably one the best talents to ever step inside the ring.
Nagata also competed in WCW, All Japan Pro Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Noah, and Pro Wrestling Zero1-Max. The 51-year-old has captured titles in every promotion that he’s wrestled in, such as the GHC Heavyweight Championship, All Asia Tag Team Championship, and NEVER Openweight Championship. He’s also won the G1 Climax and New Japan Cup Twice.
Nagata joins Fred Yehi, Marty “The Villain” Scurll, Tracy Williams, Slex, Alex Shelley, Mark Haskins, Jonathan Gresham, Doug Williams, and Rocky Romero for a chance to make history and become the first Pure Champion since 2006. The Pure Championship tournament begins on Friday, April 10 in Columbus and Saturday, April 11 in Pittsburgh.
Will the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion add another belt to his already impressive resume? We’ll find out soon!
