The professional wrestling world lost another great human being.
On Thursday, news broke out that Jax Dane - real name is Jeremy Laymon - passed away due to complications from a heart attack in late November 2024. Dane was only 48.
The former NWA World Heavyweight Champion got his start in 2009 and became a massive star under the NWA name. Dane spent his early days in a tag team with Raymond Rowe and won the NWA Lone Star Tag Team Championship.
After a short stint with the belts, the duo would disband and Dane went on a solo run. It didn’t take long for the Tennessee native to win his first singles belt as Dane beat Raymond Rowe, Ryan Genesis, and Scot Summers in a four-way match for the NWA Lone Star Heavyweight title.
But that wouldn’t be his first and only singles belt.
Dane won the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, NWA North American Heavyweight Championship, and the NWA National Heavyweight Championship during his 2012 - 2015 run. He would leave NWA and make his debut for Ring of Honor and TNA/Impact Wrestling, but those runs were short-lived.
Dane would go over to Ohio Valley Wrestling with Crimson and fight as a duo known as the War Kings. They won the OVW Southern Tag Team Championships twice. He would go back to NWA and spend the rest of his career in the promotion. He last wrestled in NWA on October 26, 2024.
Here are some kind words from wrestlers who have worked with Dane in the past.
Theringreport extends our condolences to Jeremy Laymon's friends and family.
