It was reported back in late March that Major League Wrestling would be introducing several new titles in 2019 and now, we officially have the introduction of one of the new belts, the National Openweight championship.

The promotion sent out a press release confirming the new championship as four MLW stars will compete for a shot to become the inaugural National Openweight champion. The first-ever champion is set to crowned at MLW: Fury Road on June 1st at the Waukesha County Expo Center on Saturday night June 1st.

The National Openweight championship appears to have similar rules as New Japan’s NEVER Openweight title, as there is no weight limit set for a wrestler to compete for the respective belt, thus meaning that any super heavyweight, middleweight and heavyweight are eligible to compete for the championship.

The four competitors will be revealed at a later date. Check out the official press release here.
