The third-generation stars discuss why they turned down an offer from WWE.
Ever since making their debut with MLW in 2019, Marshall and Ross Von Erich have been tearing it up with the promotion by having fantastic matches against talents such as the CONTRA Unit and The Dynasty. Many have wondered why the duo hasn’t signed a WWE contract and the MLW World Tag Team Champions have finally spoken on why they passed on the opportunity to join the premier wrestling company.
The Von Erich’s recall Kerry Von Erich wrestling for the promotion back in the 1990’s and wasn’t too fond of the way he was treated during his time with the company. The third-generation stars weren’t sure of the direction the company wanted to take them if they had signed, so they ultimately opted not join the WWE (Transcript courtesy of the
Dallas Morning News):
“Uncle Kerry worked for WWE for awhile. It didn’t turn out so great. We weren’t really sure what direction they wanted to go with us, and our name,” Ross said.
"Is wrestling for us? If WWE is the only place to go, then it’s not for us. MLW and Court [Bauer] were like a blessing in disguise for us. We just love the guy. We’re going to do what we’re told by the boss, but if he wants us to change our names and we’re under contract… we get into legal issues. We just didn’t want to worry about that stuff. We’re honored to be Von Erichs and we never want that to change," Marshall said.
