It appears that Matt Hardy’s first post-WWE match is confirmed.
Surprisingly, the former WWE Tag Team Champion’s first match won’t be for a major promotion as Northeast Wrestling revealed that Hardy will return to the ring on March 27; however, an opponent has yet to be revealed.
Since leaving the WWE, speculation has run rampart on where the 45-year-old could end up next. All signs points to All Elite Wrestling as Hardy previously stated in his interview with
Sports Illustrated that he would like to face Kenny Omega before he retires:
“I have a few great wrestling matches left in me, and I feel like one of those is with Kenny Omega,” said Hardy.
“I’d love to have a one-on-one match with him. Hopefully that will happen down the road.”
In addition to wanting to fight the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion,
The Young Bucks have been making appearances of Hardy’s “Free The Delete” online series and AEW themselves have been dropping serious hints that the former multi-time tag team champion could be the exalted one.
Nevertheless, we’ll find out very soon as Hardy stated that he’ll give fans an answer on where he’ll sign next within 30 days. The North Carolina native has also dropped hints on showing up in NWA and Impact Wrestling.
