Matt Sydal will be making his return to Ring of Honor.

The former X-Division Champion has been quiet in the wrestling world since leaving Impact last year; however, Sydal seems to be making moves in 2020 as the 37-year-old has confirmed that he will be taking part of the ROH Pure Championship tournament (Transcript courtesy of fightful.com).

"Ring Of Honor is putting something together very special and I am honored to announce that I will be a participant of the Ring Of Honor Pure Title Tournament. Details on the tournament and who's coming are upcoming and I don't know what else is going but they asked me if I was willing to participate and be a part of this ground-breaking, revolutionary tournament and I thought, 'Oh, yeah. Give me this challenge,'" Sydal said on the ROHStrong podcast.

Originally, ROH was supposed to hold a 16-man tournament for the Pure Championship back in April, but the company was forced to cancel the event due to the coronavirus pandemic. Sydal was not one of the confirmed participants for the tournament, though the ROH star was set to make his return at the Past vs. Present event in March.

There’s no word on when ROH intends to return to action. The company will be holding their annual Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view on Friday, September 25; however, the event will be a “best of” type of show that highlights great matches from the past.
