Mercedes Mone Match Confirmed For NJPW x AEW WRESTLE DYNASTY Show

Mercedes Mone will face a star AEW fans are familiar with.

New Japan Pro-Wrestling held their annual Strong Style Evolved show on December 15th and Mercedes defended her NJPW Strong Women’s title against Hazuki; and these two had a certified banger. But after several nearfalls that put Mone’s title reign in serious jeopardy, the 32-year-old was able to successfully get the three count.

Then Mina Shirakawa came out. She grabbed the mic and made her intentions pretty clear - her vs. Mone on January 5th. Mone agreed, only if she put the RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship on the line as well. Mina accepted that condition and the two women had a dance off to celebrate the major match announcement.

If Mercedes Mone wins the RevPro Undisputed British Women’s title, then she will be holding onto three belts at the same time. Mina has held the prestigious title for 114 days, defeating high profile names such as Dani Luna and Lizzy Evo. AEW fans will recognize Shirakawa as the recent challenger to Mariah May’s AEW Women’s World title. The 36-year-old put up one hell of a fight, but she failed to beat May at the Winter is Coming edition of Dynamite. 

This will be the first match between Mercedes Mone and Mina Shirakawa. That wasn’t the only match added during the weekend as a Lucha Gauntlet bout was confirmed featuring eight wrestlers from CMLL and New Japan Pro-Wrestling. The first two participants will start out the match and another wrestler will come in at one-minute intervals. The first man to score a pinfall will be declared the winner.
