Another past Ring of Honor star will participate in the Pure Championship tournament, as the company confirms Rocky Romero as the latest entrant.
Romero is no stranger to championship gold, as the NJPW star won the ROH World Tag Team titles back in 2005 with Rickey Reyes. Once the duo dropped the belts 196 days later, Romero would transition to New Japan Pro Wrestling and his career would skyrocket from there.
The 37-year-old won the Best of the American Super Juniors in 2006 and would eventually capture the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship. Once he lost the belt, Romero focused on the tag team division and managed to win the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships eight times with Davey Richards (two times), Alex Koslov (two times), and Beretta (four times).
Wth his recent return to ROH, Romero looks to bring his vast experience inside the ring to finally capture a singles title within the promotion. Romero will join Alex Shelley, Jonathan Gresham, and Doug Williams in the upcoming tournament that starts on Friday, April 10 in Columbus and Saturday, April 11 in Pittsburgh.
