I don’t think Gabe Kidd likes Tony Khan.
The NJPW Strong Openweight Champion is scheduled to fight Kenny Omega at the joint NJPW x AEW show, Wrestle Dynasty. Kidd has not hesitated speaking his mind. Or in Kenny’s case, his fists. But the 27-year-old has been shooting at Tony Khan and AEW throughout the build. During his interview with Adrian Hernandez of Unlikely, Kidd criticized the working relationship between New Japan and AEW, and he feels that there’s no better way to say f**k you to AEW than beating the executive vice president of the promotion.
But the Strong Openweight Champion didn’t stop there.
In a follow-up to Omega’s final message, Kidd made sure to take more shoots at Tony Khan. This time, he calls him a f**king idiot.
"I don’t give a shit if AEW want to sign me. What, so I can go and turn up to TV, be Tony’s new toy? Go on Dynamite, have a couple of matches and then sit and catering for 23 weeks doing f**k all, flying to Toledo, Ohio, to do what? A show in front of a crowd that have seen five hours of wrestling already? I have no interest in that whatsoever. Wrestling to me, I’m a professional, but wrestling means more to me than these guys, and I think it’s about time that someone with New Japan stepped up and has some f**king balls.
We are getting our pants pulled down and dogged by the rest of the wrestling world because of being professional. So maybe it is time to be a little bit unprofessional. Maybe it is time to talk a bit of shit, and if they have anything to say about it, can come and chat to me. I have no problem pulling Tony Khan into our office and telling him what’s what. I have no problem reading him his rights and telling him what a f**king idiot he is. So that’s that," Kidd said.
Khan is no stranger to criticism, especially where it comes to Eric Bischoff. Obviously, this is a work to get more heat on Kidd, who’s blurring the lines between fiction and reality in his feud with Kenny Omega.
The booking of their match at Wrestle Dynasty should be interesting. Kidd is the Strong Openweight Champion so an outright burial is impossible. Unless New Japan doesn’t like their champion. But the length of the match and how much Kidd gets in is something to watch.
