This weekend, the 2020 PROGRESS Wrestling Super Strong Style 16 tournament was supposed to take place; however, like many events in the sports world, the annual competition was cancelled due to the coronavrius. The tournament would’ve featured names such as Jonathan Gresham (ROH), Travis Banks (NXT UK), and Ilja Dragunov (NXT UK).

Despite the annual event being cancelled, PROGRESS Wrestling announced to play the 2019 tournament to stream in place of the axed 2020 competition. Last year, top independent talent David Starr beat Jordan Devlin to win the overall tournament.

Other names involved with the 16-man competition were former multi-time NXT Tag Team Champion Kyle O’Reilly, Trevor Lee (NXT’s Cameron Grimes), Daga (Impact Wrestling), and Darby Allin (AEW).

The three day show also saw a PROGRESS World & Atlas Unification title match between WALTER and Trent Seven, Aussie Open (Mark Davis & Kyle Fletcher) defending the PROGRESS Tag Team titles against Aerostar & Daga, and Jordynne Grace putting the PROGRESS Women’s title on the line against Session Moth Martina, Millie McKenzie & Nina Samuels.
