We go from Daniel Bryan, AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, and Kevin Owens to the one and only, CM Punk.
One of the longest reigning WWE Champions also got his start on the independent promotion back in 2002 and it didn’t take long for the Chicago native to win championship gold. Punk would first win the ROH World Tag Team titles twice with Colt Cabana, and then go on to become the ROH World Champion in 2005.
Before winning the prestigious top title, Punk fought Alex Shelley at the company’s third Anniversary pay-per-view. Following that fantastic match-up, the 41-year-old would eventually sign with the WWE; however, Punk would still win the ROH World title over Austin Aries at Death Before Dishonor.
Throughout Punk’s reign, the former WWE star wouldn’t defend the ROH World Championship and threatened to take the belt with him to the WWE. At Escape From New York, Roderick Strong became the first man granted a title shot against the Chicago native.
