It just hasn’t been a good month for Jeff Cobb. Last week, The ROH star lost the NEVER Openweight championship to Taichi on his first defense, and this past weekend, Cobb has officially dropped the ROH World Television title.
It all happened in a Four Corner Survival Match with him, Shane Taylor, Brody King, and Hirooki Goto. Cobb connected with his finisher, Tour of the Islands on King, but Taylor was able to attack Cobb from behind. With the ROH World TV Champion out of the picture, Taylor hit Greetings From 216 and then scored the pinfall.
Cobb held the title for 222 days, as he won the belt in his ROH debut against Punishment Martinez back in September. Despite no longer being champion, Cobb does remain undefeated in singles competition. Taylor conducted an interview following his title win backstage, with him playing up the storyline of ROH officials not wanting him to be a champion:
“This is the day every Ring of Honor official has been dreading -- the day Shane Taylor is a champion in Ring of Honor,” Taylor told ROH backstage correspondent Quinn McKay after his victory. “You know why? Because they can’t control me. I’m not any of their little projects that they bring in from the outside. I’m nobody’s boy here. I did this on my own, by myself.”
