Will tonight be the crowning of a new ROH Women’s World Champion?
Athena has held the belt for an historic 741 day-title reign. The “Fallen Goddess” has beaten some of the best female talent AEW and Ring of Honor has to offer, that includes her opponent tonight, Billie Starkz.
Starkz came seconds away from a massive upset that would’ve seen the then 19-year-old become the youngest women’s world champion in ROH history. Starkz has grown since her last title match against Athena thanks to the champ herself, and the former inaugural ROH Women’s World Champion hopes to be the woman to finally beat Athena for the prestigious belt. Will Athena’s historic title reign come to an end? Or is this just the beginning of a very long run as world champion?
In the other main event, Matt Cardona will challenge Chris Jericho for the ROH World Championship. The former WWE star has really grown on the indie scene since his release in 2020. The Indy King has changed the narrative on his career and comes in with tons of momentum. However, this is Chris Jericho.
The very man who beat The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin on the same night. The very man that first held the AEW World Championship. The two-time ROH World Champion knows what it takes to be the top dog. Will Jericho’s wrestling experience overwhelm Matt Cardona? Or will Cardona pull off a huge upset in his native hometown?
In a personal rivalry, Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara will take on Vincent & Dutch of The Righteous in a Texas Bull Rope match. The challengers have kept Sammy and Dustin on their toes in the past several weeks and hope to inflict serious pain onto the ROH World Tag Team Champions. But Sammy and Dustin are fighting champions who aren’t afraid to get their hands bloody against the devilish opponents. Who will emerge from the battle when the dust finally settles?
