The first-ever ROH Women of Honor World Champion is set for the upcoming tournament on April 24.

The promotion confirmed that Sumie Sakai will compete in the 16-woman tournament at Quest For Gold in Philadelphia. Sakai became the inaugural champion back at Supercard of Honor XII by defeating Kelly Klein. The 48-year-old remains the longest reigning champion by keeping the belt for 251 days before dropping it to Kelly Klein at Final Battle in 2018.

Thus far, Sakai is the only woman confirmed for the tournament; however, it’s expected that talents such as Angelina Love – also a former WOH World Champion – and the current crop of female competitors currently under an ROH contract will compete in the tournament.

While the tournament will begin on April 24 at the Quest For Gold event, there’s no confirmed date for the finals thus far. Of course, we’ll keep you updated when Ring of Honor makes an official announcement.
