The Young Bucks are back!

However, Matthew and Nicholas Jackson will be making their returns in New Japan Pro Wrestling. In October at Kings of Pro-Wrestling, the former AEW World Tag Team Champions confirmed that they will return to the promotion at Wrestle Dynasty in 2025.

New Japan has made it official as The Young Bucks will fight for the vacated IWGP Tag Team titles. Originally, Great-O-Khan and HENARE were the IWGP Tag Team Champions, but the duo was stripped of their belts when HENARE suffered a knee injury during the 2024 World Tag League tournament.

The Young Bucks will fight Great-O-Khan and a mystery partner on January 5th. Though the AEW stars have made two appearances in New Japan in 2024, this will be the first time since 2019 that Matt and Nick wrestle in a New Japan ring.

They last competed at Wrestle Kingdom 13 in a three-way match against Guerillas of Destiny and Ingobernables de Japón (Sanada and Evil) for the IWGP Tag Team titles, but they ultimately lost before heading over to AEW full time.

The Bucks return isn’t even the biggest news of the show! Kenny Omega will wrestle for the first time in nearly two years. The former AEW World Champion was out of wrestling due to diverticulitis. His future in the business was a serious question mark as many viewed it as a career threatening health concern. Thankfully, Omega’s been able to slowly recover and is getting back into the wrestling game.

Ricochet will also come back into New Japan for the first time in eight years. He’ll face a familiar foe, Zack Sabre Jr, who’s currently the IWGP Heavyweight Champion. Of course, that can all change if Shota Umino beats him for the belt on January 4th. Jack Perry and Claudio Castagnoli are also scheduled to wrestle on the pay-per-view as well.
