Recently, former WWE Champion CM Punk listed Will Ospreay as a man that could coax him out of retirement on the Swing & Mrs podcast:

“For people I haven’t ever wrestled before, I think Will Ospreay, I would listen to your idea. There’s a lot of moving parts. I’m busy doing other stuff and nobody has found the right combination of ways to approach me. It’s not all up to me, ladies and gentlemen, it’s up to the people who actually run the company.”

The “Aerial Assassin” arguably had the best 2019 out of every New Japan Pro-Wrestling star as Ospreay steadily put on fantastic matches against a variety of opponents. Following Punk’s interview, the 26-year-old responded to the WWE Backstage correspondent, simply telling Punk to stop talking and get back inside the ring:

The Chicago native has not responded to Ospreay’s post. While the chances of Punk and Ospreay going one-on-one are slim, this is professional wrestling, so never say never. At the moment, Ospreay doesn’t have any upcoming events due to all independent shows being cancelled for the time being because of the coronavirus.
