Former EVOLVE Tag Team Champion Anthony Henry is done with the promotion.
The 36-year-old revealed on Periscope that he will no longer wrestle for the promotion, citing that negotiations fell through between both sides (Transcript courtesy of
Fightful.com):
"I will no longer, as of now, be wrestling for EVOLVE. I will just say that, we came to an impasse during some negotiations and it's just not going to work out. For me, for them, for either of us. I'm sure a lot of people probably heard that I recently did the WWE tryout. I will just say that, we both wanted to re-sign me to a two-year deal. Obviously, with the connection to WWE and NXT, the opportunity was there for that. However, I'm 36-years-old, there's pretty much already a waiting list to get on the NXT roster. I don't have two years in me. I don't have that time to spend. I don't have it anymore. I've got to get moving."
Henry has been with the promotion since 2016, where his first match was against Darby Allin. While he ultimately lost the contest, the Georgia native impressed EVOLVE officials and continued to make appearances for the company on a regular basis.
It didn’t take long for Henry to win championship gold, as the EVOLVE star captured the tag team titles back in 2017 with JD Drake. Once he lost the straps two months later, Henry and Drake continued on the tag team scene; however, they failed to regain the belts. Henry ventured out as a singles star towards the end of his career; however, he didn't win any singles title before his exit.
There’s no word on what the future holds for Henry.
