Stardom has been acquired by Kix Road, which is a subsidiary of Bushiroad, the same company that owns New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Speculation has run rampant over the future of both companies as many believed that the all-female wrestling promotion would be integrated with New Japan; however, that doesn’t appear to be the case, as there are no plans to have Stardom talent on NJPW shows or in vice versa, according to the Wrestling Observer.
Hiroshi “Rossy” Ogawa will remain CEO of Stardom, which will continue using the Stardom name, but World Wonder Ring Stardom, the company which previously owned the promotion, will no longer exist. The buyout of the Japanese promotion will see the all-female company expand their branding through advertisement and television time. Stardom will start to air on BS NTV and Tokyo MX starting January 2020.
The company was founded back in 2010 and arguably holds some of the best female talents in the world. Io Sharai, Kairi Sane, Asuka, Riho (who’s the current High Speed Champion) are the most notable alumni from the Japanese promotion.
