A new middleweight bout has been confirmed for UFC 248, as Derek Brunson will take on Edmen Shahbazyan at the pay-per-view event.
Brunson is coming off a big win over Ian Heinisch at UFC 241 and thus far, the middleweight has a solid two-fight winning streak. The UFC veteran has had some memorable battles against fighters such as Lyoto Machida, Robert Whittaker, and Yoel Romero; however, Brunson has yet to win any championships during his long tenure with the promotion. His professional record is currently 20 wins and 7 losses.
Shahbazyan is coming into the fight white-hot, as the middleweight is currently on a strong 11-fight winning streak. The California native is coming off a strong TKO victory over Brad Tavares at UFC 244. Since joining the UFC in 2018, he’s also defeated Darren Stewart, Charles Byrd, and Jack Marshman. Shahbazyan’s professional record stands at 11 wins and no losses.
UFC 248 takes place on Saturday, March 7 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero headlining.
