A heavyweight bout is confirmed for the UFC Fight Night: Whittaker vs. Till show as Fabricio Werdum will take on Alexander Gustafsson.

Werdum is in need of a win as the former UFC Heavyweight Champion suffered back-to-back losses against Alexander Volkov (via KO at UFC Fight Night 127) and Aleksei Oleinik (via split decision at UFC 249). Werdum has only two victories out of his last five fights, besting Walt Harris (via submission at UFC 216) and Marcin Tybura (via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 121). His professional record currently stands at 23 wins, 9 losses, and 1 no contest.

After declaring retirement following his loss against Anthony Smith at UFC Fight Night Stockholm, Alexander Gustafsson will make his return to the octagon for the first time since June 2019. The 33-year-old is currently in the midst of a two-fight losing streak, also dropping a UFC Light Heavyweight title bout to Jon Jones at UFC 232. Gustafsson’s last victory was against Glover Teixeira at UFC Fight Night 109 on May 28, 2017. His professional record currently stands at 18 wins and 6 losses.

UFC Fight Night: Whittaker vs. Till takes place on Saturday, July 25 with the two middleweights headlining. The placement of the heavyweight contest has yet to be determined.
