Dana White explains his issues with Tyron Woodley.
For the past couple of years, it appeared that the UFC President wasn’t a fan of the former UFC Welterweight Champion despite Woodley’s accomplishments, citing at one point that “nobody would pay to see Woodley fight” following his championship defense against Damian Maia.
Well, the UFC President has finally addressed his issues with the 38-year-old and states that Woodley is the hardest person that he’s ever dealt with (Transcript courtesy of Fightful.com):
"I would say the hardest kid that I ever dealt with, and everybody thinks that I don't like him, it has to be Woodley. Woodley's the hardest kid I've ever dealt with. I look at what he could have done and what he should have done,” White said to Kris Fade (via Aaron Bronsteter of TSN).
White feels that Woodley has the ability to be something huge; however, the former UFC Welterweight Champion has always been a difficult fighter to conduct business with:
"Good looking kid, physique, the whole thing, becomes a world champion, has that knockout power, has all the tools and everything else, but it's just always pulling teeth with him and it's always about something else other than the fight,” says White.
Thus far, Woodley has yet to respond to White's latest comments. The former UFC Welterweight Champion is coming off a loss to Colby Covington, which now makes Woodley on a three-fight losing streak. There’s no word on when he’ll return to the octagon.
