Coming into his first fight with the UFC in 2001, Tim Sylvia was a top prospect in the heavyweight division. The 44-year-old came into the promotion on a strong fourteen fight-winning streak, kicking ass in promotions such as Extreme Challenge, Superbrawl, and Ultimate Fight Minnesota.
Sylvia was successful in his debut against Wesley Correira and it didn’t take long for him to win the coveted UFC Heavyweight title, as the 235-pound fighter easily decimated Ricco Rodriguez in the second round of UFC 41.
Like many undefeated streaks, the heavyweight's winning ways would come to an end against Frank Mir at UFC 48; however, the fighter would continue making a mark within a division that featured the likes of Randy Couture, Brandon Vera, and Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira.
Before he left the UFC in 2008, Sylvia would capture the Heavyweight title twice and electrified fans with exciting bouts inside of the octagon. Sylvia officially retired from the sport in 2015 and is currently residing in Iowa.
